Each piece of Norngaard indoor furniture goes through a multi step treatment process prior to shipping to ensure it will hold up to everyday wear and tear in your home. There are however several things you can do to care for your furniture so it can be enjoyed for many years to come.

1. Do not scrape furniture with sharp objects.

- All Norngaard furniture is finished with multiple coats of a non toxic, water based protective sealant to protect the wood for every day use. However, this does not mean the sealant is impenetrable: deep dents and scratches may cut through the sealant and damage the wood.

2. Do use coasters for beverages when possible, and clean up any spills when they happen.

-The protective sealant will ensure water does not permeate to the wood, however it is good practice to ensure liquids are not sitting on your furniture for extended periods of time.

3. Clean your furniture with a damp cloth or any non abrasive furniture polish/cleaner.

4. Do not use indoor furniture for outdoor use for extended periods of time.

-Direct exposure to harsh elements such as direct sunlight, rain, or fluctuation of temperatures will cause the wood to warp or split. We at Norngaard take great care to seal our outdoor furniture with a weatherproof, UV resistant sealant to prevent such damage, but our indoor furniture is not equipped with this sealant.

-We do NOT recommend using harsh household chemicals as they can damage the finish.

Our outdoor line of Norngaard furniture is treated then protected with a waterproof, environmentally benign UV resistant sealant prior to shipment. This sealant ensures all of our outdoor line will stand the best chance of holding up under the elements. However, daily direct sunlight exposure, rain, or extreme fluctuations of temperatures will eventually wear on the furniture. It is not uncommon for wood to move or color to fade with prolonged heavy exposure. This is normal and should be expected. To extend the life of your outdoor Norngaard furniture we recommend applying a UV grade wax to maintain original luster- especially if exposed to direct sunlight. We also recommend to move furniture inside during off seasons to avoid continuous direct exposure when possible.

-Many of our outdoor furniture pieces are outfitted with joiners that can be hand cranked to tighten when gaps appear.

-Clean your furniture with a damp cloth or any non abrasive furniture polish/cleaner.

Yes. All of our sealants are non toxic and safe for daily use in your home.

We at Norngaard are committed to protecting and honoring the unique natural environment of the California Coast, as such, we only source wood fallen due to natural causes. The California landscape has been scarred in recent years by devastating wildfires and floods. By selecting wood from trees that have succumbed to these catastrophic events we are working to restore and maintain our local forests. We do not participate in clearcutting- ever.

Prices are subject to change due to shipping costs calculated at checkout. The prices of items in your cart represent the current price for which you will be charged.

Shipping

Depending on the size and intricacy of the item purchased, processing time will vary prior to shipping. We are a small, family operated company with limited hands on stock due to our process of ethically sourcing our materials. Once a board of lumber is cut, we carefully dry it before it can be used for furniture. This process may take 5-7 weeks. Our craftsmen then take the cured lumber and build, UV treat, seal, inspect, and sign and number the piece prior to shipment. As a general rule smaller items should be expected to ship 2-6 weeks post purchase. Larger items should be expected to ship 6-10 weeks post purchase. Smaller items will be shipped using UPS ground shipping, and typically arrive between 1-5 business days.

Larger items will be shipped using UPS freight service. Depending on the location of the receiver, your package may arrive between 1-2 weeks.

Local to the Monterey Bay: Norngaard offers curbside delivery services for customers within 50 miles of our business center. Curbside delivery does not include in home delivery. If the purchased product is large, we recommend coordinating with two or three people prior to arrival to help you bring the piece into your home.

Ground Shipping UPS: For smaller items, Norngaard ships via UPS Ground services. This service will deliver your purchase to your front door, mailbox, or front office.

UPS Freight: Freight services deliver larger items too big or heavy to be delivered via UPS Ground Shipping. Freight services will send an email to you to coordinate delivery once the item is in the nearest warehouse to your location. Freight services deliver during normal business hours 9-5pm. Freight delivery services are curbside delivery services- they will not bring your purchase inside. If the purchase item is over 100lbs, or if the package is over 10ft long, be prepared to help the driver carry the package. We recommending coordinating with two or three people to help you move your purchase inside.

Yes. Once your purchase is delivered, please take a moment to inspect your product prior to signing for your package. If you note damage inflicted from in transit delivery, please write it down on the delivery form, and contact us at dee.dannelly@norngaard.com.

Once your item is ready to ship. We will send you an updated email with your shipping information where you will be able to track your order.

Returns

Due to the nature of our products, the fragility of our resources, and shipping costs, we do not offer refunds or returns. Once your order is placed, we cannot guarantee that it can be modified or cancelled. We process orders quickly and your order may be too far along to be changed or cancelled. Please ensure your purchase will be able to fit inside your home prior to purchase. For damaged items, please refer to the following question.

In the rare event that your order has a major non-organic structural or mechanical defect, Norngaard will replace the furniture and correct the issue. Our tables are built from solid wood that is naturally distressed. Each piece of wood is unique in pattern and color variation, and may incorporate knots, worm holes, pitch, or other biological anomalies. We believe these natural inclusions in the wood add character and enhance the unique quality of each handmade piece. These characteristics are not considered defects.

Norngaard will also replace any items damaged in transit, as long as the damage is properly noted upon delivery per our instructions.

We at Norngaard place our highest premium on customer satisfaction. We take great pride and care in building each of our hand crafted pieces to fit and perform functionally in your home.  We inspect each piece of furniture thoroughly prior to shipment to ensure it meets our strict standards of structural design and beauty. Once inspected, our head designer personally signs and numbers each item as indication that the product is ready for shipment.

Our tables are built from solid wood that is naturally distressed. Each piece of wood is unique in pattern and color variation, and may incorporate knots, worm holes, pitch, or other biological anomalies. We believe these natural inclusions in the wood add character and enhance the unique quality of each handmade piece.
